Mir Mohsun Navvab, a Distinguished Cultural Figure of Shusha, Was Born 193 Years Ago

Mir Mohsun Navvab, one of the most versatile figures in the history of Azerbaijani culture and intellectual thought, was born in Shusha on 29 September 1833.
Known as a poet, painter, calligrapher and musicologist, Navvab was one of the prominent representatives of Shusha’s cultural environment in the 19th century. Through his artistic and scholarly activities, he made a significant contribution to the rich cultural life of Karabakh.
His legacy includes works related to classical poetry, music theory, calligraphy and visual arts. Navvab’s creative heritage reflects the close interaction between different branches of Azerbaijan’s classical culture and highlights Shusha’s historical role as an important centre of literature, music and the arts.
Mir Mohsun Navvab died in 1918. His rich scholarly and artistic legacy remains an important part of Azerbaijan’s cultural history.
